Temporal clauses with conjunction "neg" in old Lithuanian writings

The article gives an overview of the structure and semantics of subordinate clauses of time boundary with the conjunction (pirm) neg in Old Lithuanian writings (in texts of J. Bretkūnas' Postilla (1591), M. Daukša's Postilla (1599) and K. Sirvydas' Punktai sakymų (I - 1629, II - 1644)). Temporal clauses with the conjunction (pirm) neg were used to express a usual (unmarked) or unusual (marked) temporal relationship of events (posteriority). In all these texts most frequent are temporal clauses with the compound conjunction pirm neg (only the compound conjunction pirm neg is used in temporal clauses in Bretkūnas' Postilla). Temporal clauses introduced by the single conjunction neg (no longer used as temporal conjunction in Modern Lithuanian) are fixed in Daukša and Sirvydas. Some temporal clauses of Daukša and Wujek have divergent conjunctions. One such clause with neg in Daukša's pericopes has a structural similarity with its equivalent in Vilentas Euangelijos bei Epistolos (1579))
